Definition of 'loneliness'

'Loneliness' is the heavy shadow hovering behind you when you’re looking through the window at the shivering grass under the tree in the lawn, while you try not to hear the words miss, home or you in the songs you’re pretending to listen to in an attempt to cover the sounds of pleasure coming from the room next to yours and you keep telling yourself this very long day will end soon and it won’t be long til you wake up and realise it’s finally the morning of the day you’re going back where you belong.
